Am I a Happy Housewife?

What is life like on your end of the block? As the years of marriage accumulate and the stresses of raising children and facing disappointments mount…the state of our marital bliss can become very discolored. A continual practice of disappointed thinking can change us as a person…and as a wife.

It is a gradual thing that happens when we don't adhere to strict Biblical principles in regard to our feelings and thought life. Our feelings really do tell on us. It's good to listen to what our feelings are telling us but we must not live by them! My feelings reveal my true spiritual nature. It's good for me to know my feelings well enough to be able to discern what sort they are.

Our husband and family need for us to be a helpmeet who is well advised. We need to seek for wisdom in controlling our emotions and feelings. There is only one way to get that wisdom. We have to seek for it!

A wise woman is always learning. She is open to change and she is ready to hear. Is this you? Too many women let their own feelings dictate their choices and responses and they are closed to the help or input of their husband, their pastor or other Godly friends.

Proverbs 12:15 "The way of the fool is right in his own eyes (opinions); but he (she) that hearkeneth (seeks for and listens) unto counsel is wise."

A truly wise woman is a teachable woman.

Proverbs 9:9 "Give instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning."

Sounds pretty simple doesn't it? Have you ever wondered why some women grow in the Lord faster than others and seem to have more joy and contentment? Wonder no more! Their secret is found in Proverbs 9:9!

Ladies, do you want to be the best helpmeet for your husband? Do you want God's hand of blessing on your home? All of us need to seek for wisdom. Ask the Lord for it. When we don't….here is the reason why we don't…

Proverbs 13:10 "Only by pride cometh contention; but with the well advised is wisdom."

This is the key to being a happy housewife! You can doll yourself up in a multitude of ways but if you are a wife ruled by every wind of your emotions, you are not a spiritual woman. What will we do about the problem….?

I would be a lot happier housewife if I had a figure like that lady in the picture. :)
I'm learning little by little to not live by my feelings. It's a hard thing for me to do.
Thank you for the encouragement. It blessed my heart. DC

Hmm...These words of truth are so needed in a world that says "follow your heart". I'm learning this even today and was encouraged by the article, even though I'm still single! Thank you! Diana
