Our Divine Purpose

Written by Sheryl Shaffer
Who am I? Why am I here? Dear sister....you are not here by accident. There is a divine purpose for your existence and accepting that purpose will determine whether you will ever really be happy on planet earth.

I read an article a few years back in the USA Today newspaper entitled, “For some moms, home is not at the range”. Humorous though that sounded, the entire article was completely against the scriptural role of the woman and encouraged resistance to traditional thinking on the role of a woman in our culture.

It really doesn’t matter what the culture thinks about a woman’s role. It does matter what God thinks!

The real reason that a woman is supposed to be the keeper of the home is because God appointed that position for her. A biblical wife is to be a helpmate to her husband, a life giver and nurturer to her children and she is the one God designed to be the keeper of the home environment. There is more to this environment than just how it looks!

Today, many young girls have been taught and convinced that their talents are too valuable to be wasted on a man and children, in the confines of the home. They have been taught that they should practice their talents and follow their dreams in the marketplace and be paid for doing it. Someone else nurtures their children as they work to fill their homes with cool gadgets, extra spending money and evenings out shopping. Children are being raised by themselves and by TV, rather than from a real live, loving mother. American families have more of this world’s goods than ever before, but we are very poor in what matters the most. Even so called Christian families, are filled with dysfunction. Moms and Dads alike, are operating outside of their God designed roles and we are paying for it as a nation and as families.

Our Creator has the right to dictate our roles in life. It’s our job to submit ourselves to His plan. Things will go well...if we do.

But our God is in the heavens; he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.” Psalm 115:3

....Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another
unto dishonor?Romans 9:20b-21

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” Romans 13:1

Homemaking, has become a negative word in our society. It conjures up ideas of grueling, repetitious cooking, cleaning and mundane chores in the minds of modern women. Young girls see this kind of life as boring, rather than important work. It’s still God’s plan for a woman’s true happiness.

Yes, it is. Keep teaching these things. We need it.
